Building Inspection Ferntree Gully – Extreme Vegetation

Our Ferntree Gully building inspector took this photo of excessive vegetation growing on the building exterior during a pre purchase building inspection.

These conditions are considered conducive to termite infestation as it creates dark, damp areas for termites to nest and hide, putting the building at greater risk of termite attack. Furthermore, the foliage was growing into the air conditioner and all over the timber windows, which would most likely cause premature deterioration to these building elements.

The brickwork was obstructed from view, hiding the possibility of structural damage. It’s was strongly recommended to our client that all vegetation be cut well back from the building edges to eliminate these conditions and allow for further inspection.
