It’s likely that a termite nest once or still does occupied this dead tree stump. What looks like dirt that I’m holding is actually termite mudding and the surrounding stump shows significant damage cause by termite activity. The stump was located very close to the building exterior, which puts the house at greater risk of termite attack.
