Mornington Peninsula Building Inspection Rye – Rusted Floor Supports

Mornington Peninsula Building Inspection Rye – Rusted Floor Supports

Under the floor at this Building Inspection in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula we found that the steel webs in the floor joists were rusting from the coastal environment. The house was only 10 years old and the majority of the floor was rusting!! I could pick pieces of rust off with my fingers! Obviously we informed our clients that the house was a no go. Other steel supports were flexing, indicating that the floor had been poorly designed with inadequate strength to take the weight of the floor and wall loads. Another major structural defect uncovered by BIA – the building and pest inspection experts in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
